Cheddar - Scottsdale, AZ Cat Photographer

Every photo shoot has a personality. Some are calm and dreamy, others dramatic and moody. And then there are shoots like this one—powered entirely by a funny orange cat named Cheddar, whose energy level can best be described as “permanently set to zoom.”

From the moment I stepped into Cheddar’s house, it was clear this wasn’t going to what you’d typically expect with a kitty. Cheddar greeted me like an old friend he hadn’t seen in years, weaving between legs, chirping happily, and flopping over dramatically as if to say, “Yes, you may begin photographing me now.” He’s the kind of cat who doesn’t just tolerate attention—he thrives on it.

Cheddar is playful in the truest sense of the word. Within minutes, he had turned the photo shoot into a game. Pull out the feather toy? He’d attack it. Toss a small toy across the yard? Cheddar would sprint after it. Capturing this on camera was equal parts challenging and hilarious—half my shots were beautiful action frames, and the other half were orange blurs disappearing out of frame.

When he wasn’t displaying his primal hunting instincts, Cheddar was busy roaming his backyard kingdom. He strutted along the pool, investigated the bushes, and paused occasionally to sit tall and regal, as if posing on purpose. These moments didn’t last long, though. As soon as I thought, This is it, the perfect portrait, he’d spot a leaf, a bug, or absolutely nothing at all and take off again. Lol!

Photographing Cheddar wasn’t about perfectly posed shots—it was about capturing his spirit: playful, curious, and endlessly entertaining.

Cheddar didn’t just show up for his photo shoot. He hosted it. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🧡
