Maja - Scottsdale,AZ Pet Photographer
This photo shoot with Maja was one of those evenings that stays with you long after the camera is put away and the artwork is delivered.
We met at sunset at Tom’s Thumb trailhead, just as the desert was beginning to soften in color and light. From there, we hiked down to a quiet, private spot where Maja could be completely relaxed, focus on the camera, and be herself. The warm glow of the setting sun wrapped everything in a calm, peaceful feeling—perfect for a session that meant so much more than just photos.
Maja is a standard poodle with the kind of presence that’s both gentle and grounding. She was incredibly well-behaved and happy to do just about anything for a treat, making it easy to capture a wide range of moments—from elegant, still portraits to playful, treat-driven action. We also captured the connection with her mom - a story of trust and deep love.
This session carried extra meaning. Maja was originally her grandfather’s dog, and when he became sick and later passed away, Maja became something even more profound—a living memory of him. Her mom adopted Maja during that time, and since then, their bond has been shaped by love, loss, healing, and companionship. Photographing them together felt like honoring not just who Maja is now, but also what she represents.
Because of that, we took our time and captured a huge variety of images—quiet moments, joyful ones, and everything in between. The final gallery is beautifully full, making it the perfect foundation for the Coffee Table Album Maja’s mom is creating for her family—a tangible way to preserve memories, connection, and love across generations.
