time to Get ready

Follow these tips to have the best shoot ever!

  • A small black, white, and tan puppy standing in a garden bed with soil and green plants, looking directly at the camera.

If needed, get your pup groomed

You’ll want your furbaby looking gorgeous from head to tail! Don’t forget a bath, hair cut (especially around the eyes for the fluffers), and nail trim.

  • White dog with pointy ears and a happy expression sitting on rocks near steps.

    Use regular collars

If possible, please have your dog wear a regular collar - no harnesses, chokers, or martingales (they can’t be removed in post-production). Also, be sure to remove unattractive rabies/registration tags beforehand.

  • Close-up of a Bernese mountain dog outdoors with fall foliage and a white fence in the background.

    Coordinate collars and leashes

You don’t want your dog’s accessories to be an eyesore in your artwork so avoid bright or neon colors (unless they go with the environment). Don’t forget to also coordinate them with your clothing if you plan on being in any of the pictures.

  • A black and white dog running on green grass with trees in the background.

    Begin practicing a "stay" command

A little training goes a long way but please don’t worry if they don’t master it! Definitely NOT required!

  • Smiling dog with open mouth looking up, standing on a tiled floor.

    Clean up around the house

If we are shooting in your yard, clean up doggy droppings so I can focus on your dog instead of having to watch where I step. Heading inside? Make sure to tidy up unsightly clutter that may be distracting in your images.

  • A playful small gray dog running on a grassy field with its tongue out.

    Take the edge off

If your dog is on the super hyper side, please take him/her on a walk before our shoot. No need for full exhaustion though! Just get some of the extra energy out.

  • A happy, multicolored dog sitting on green grass with small yellow flowers, looking up at the camera.

    Relax and have fun

Big inhales and exhales. Animals pick up on our vibes so bring a calm and chill energy.

What to expect

During the session

  • I will introduce myself to your dog and allow him/her to warm up to me and my camera. This may take 30 seconds or 30 minutes - totally depends on the pup!

  • Once everyone is comfortable, we begin to shoot! Typically I photograph your dog doing his/her own thing but I’ll add in some posing if he/she is up for it. We will play, fetch, swim, do tricks, or anything else your pup loves!

  • You will laugh at me as I make funny noises, crawl on the ground, and jump around to get your dog’s attention!

  • I ask that you please have patience with your dog and allow me to direct the shoot. I will definitely need your assistance but I will let you know what to do and when.

after the session

  • Expect a tired pet from all the modeling he/she did!

  • You’ll receive a follow-up email containing a link to schedule your image reveal/artwork consultation.

  • Over the next several days, your images are meticulously edited - colors are corrected, leashes vanish, eye boogers disappear, etc.

  • We’ll meet in person or over Zoom for the big image reveal!!!! Woohoo! You get to see your images, check out all the fun samples of artwork, and place your order.

  • After our meeting, you will receive a link to a 14-day online gallery. The online gallery is for viewing and sharing your images with family and friends!

  • If any artwork proofs are required, you’ll get an email with the details. Otherwise, your custom artwork will be ready in 2-4 weeks!!

  • Enjoy all of your goodies!!!
